Classes
Currently, we offer classes from grades K to 8. There are also classes for FCC (Families with Chinese Child) of Greater Cincinnati, adults, arts, and music.
A student's own mastery level of the Chinese language determines which grade she/he will be enrolled in. The grade level is usually determined as a result of trials and discussion between parents and teachers.

Curriculum
CCCS teaches Mandarin ("putonghua" in Chinese), the official language of China, using simplified Chinese characters and Pin Yin (Chinese phonetics).
In brief, the curriculum has these components: Pin Yin is emphasized from grades one through three. By the end of grade three, each student is expected to be able to pronounce any Chinese character based on its Pin Yin. Writing Chinese characters is an art by itself, and practice starts from the first grade and runs throughout. Students from grade two onward should be able to use a Chinese dictionary. By grades 5 and 6, students are expected to communicate in Chinese clearly and be able to write short essays in Chinese.

CCCS is using a series of Chinese textbooks that are designed specifically for children who learn Chinese as a supplemental language. The set consists of two workbooks, and a textbook. With two workbooks, students can take one book home to do their homework in, and the teacher can take the other one home to correct it. Homework books allow students to practice at home, to strengthen what they have learned in class.

There are mid-term and final exams in each semester, that cover the material that has been taught.

Mixture of Students
In each class, there is a diverse range of ages in the students. This assorted range of ages exposes students to a wide array of maturity ranges. This brings out leadership in the older students, and gives younger children a good person in their own generation to look up to.

Non-discrimination
It is open to every child and adult who is interested in learning the Chinese language, regardless of his/her ethnic/cultural heritage or educational background.

Parent Involvement
Parent participation in classes is encouraged by the school.
In order to enforce parent duty rotation, there is a $20 refundable deposit for each family. Once the duty is performed, the check will be returned.

Register
To register your child, you need to fill out the registration form. The per-semester tuition is $170 ($160 for each additional student). A set of books (1 textbook, 2 workbooks for bi-weekly rotational use) costs $12 for students ($20 for non-students).
Students are accepted throughout the semester. Tuition is pro-rated. The school office table is open during school hours. At the table, you can register your children and buy textbooks. During the first two weeks of each semester, books are sold by teachers in classrooms.
